Chief of Staff addresses students at Kessben College Matriculation

The maiden matriculation ceremony of the Kessben University College was held on 31 October 2015 to officially welcome the pioneer students at Patriensa near Kunatanse in the Bosomtwe District.A total of 54 students – males and females, were admitted to pursue programmes leading to the award of Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree.

The College, established by the Kessben Group of Companies, is affiliated to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
Oheneba Adusei Poku, the Akyempimhene, who represented the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, urged the lecturers, students and all stakeholders to work together to set high academic standards.

He applauded Kessben Group of Companies for its contribution to the nation’s development effort. The Chief of Staff Mr. Julius Debrah, who represented the president, John Dramani Mahama, suggested to the management to make deliberate efforts to promote entrepreneurial skills training to aid its products to create jobs for themselves and others.

He repeated the government’s determination to ensure that there was quality and access to education but pointed out that the support of everybody would be needed to achieve that. Education remained a top priority on their development agenda and that they would continue to put in more investment to create the right environment for academic work, he added.

He reminded the students to be disciplined and to focus on their studies, telling them that, there was no shortcut to success.
Mr. Stephen Boateng, Chancellor of the University College, said it was joining the growing list of private universities, with the goal of assisting to propel the country’s growth.

It would roll out academic programmes tailored to meet the current economic challenges – bridging academia and industry.
He said in line with this it was starting with four schools – School of Business, Law, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Liberal Arts.
With time, it would add courses in BSc Nursing, Midwifery, Physician Assistantship, Medical Laboratory, Tourism and Hospitality, Basic Education, Media and Communication.
